Let me know when you intend to visit
You will recall that our weather is a bit diversified so i will have the local contemplative nuns pray for fine weather for the period of your visit

Thank you for nice comment

Just to let you know, Isabelle went home for the Christmas.

What are you plans? Will you be travelling this holiday season?

I've just got one week left, and then sun, sun, sun.

South African Weather

Posted: 2006-12-14 01:19 PM
Hello Marianne,

Like most places the weather in spring can be temperamental, so the day before, the sun was shining and the temperature got up to around 27 degrees, and I got sunburn on my nose.
Then as we headed to Cape Point, (passing Hout Bay where the picture was taken) the clouds rolled in and it was overcast, windy and rainy all day (about 8/9). I didn't see the sun once. I had to wear a fleece. We had organised a picnic but it was too cold to sit outside so we ended up eating in the car.

Then following day the sun came out again and it was around 28/29 degrees centigrade.

But I wouldn’t change it for the world. It’s all chalked up to experience.

All the best

Udupi temple gopuram

Posted: 2006-12-13 05:29 AM
Marianne,

The gopurm at this sanctum in Udupi is very recently constructed after a lot of controversy, a couple of years back - I have to look up actual dates.

Paintings on this gopuram are just out of taste, I believe - the main idols are painted in colour, while the others are not.

This temple is rather a Matha or a center for learning, and not a temple per say. The idol of lord Krishna here is said to have been made by Sri Viswakarma and blessed by Lord Krishna himself during his Avatar - hence the importance of this place as the 7 sacred places in Karnataka.

Hope this helps answer your questions.
Best regards from Bangalore

Panama or bust!

Posted: 2006-12-11 06:33 PM
I see you were interested in my account of the Panama trip.
I have tried in vain to find a way of uploading it. I guess I am just too wordy. Any advice about how it all works?

Ghanzi Report

Posted: 2006-12-10 05:09 PM
Marianne,

Thank you so much for reading my report, this is the best feedback I've received about my reports in a long while, so it feels good.

I tried to give general information, as I travelled around so much. But it is a perfect place to visit, especailly if you have a lot of money to spend (unlike me).

Wishing you the best
Amanda

Photo Shop Ideas

Posted: 2006-12-09 08:53 PM
Marianne,
I have been fascinated by your photo experiments. I have found that cropping to re-center photos or rotating them slightly to bring a pic level a terrific help. Lots of times, I am shooting while moving and unable to frame the shot well.

I liked how you sharpened the colors - i will have to try that next.
