Wimbledon

Hiya
Have been really enjoying Wimbledon until the weather did its usual trick! I took most of the 2 weeks off work so have watched hours of it.
I went in person last Wednesday, doing our usual camping in the queue on the Tuesday night. It was really good fun, great weather for it, and we got tickets in the front row, right opposite the umpire slap bang in the middle. Well worth the sleepless night.
I really must post my Paris trip story - Roland Garros was great. I just haven't had much time to be online since. I'll get onto it soon.
Enjoy the finals!

Your comments on the Queensland sugar industry ought stay. Thgough if you want to add from my comment sobeit.

Another aspect i didn't think of is that the whole sugar cropping industry in Australia is fully automated.

I was in Fiji recently where there is no automation. Thus, they cut all year round (can't have labour siting idle for 6 months).

When Australians crop, a mechanical harvester chops the ratoon (the sugar stick) off at ground level, removes the leaves (that go into a bind) then chops the ratoons into about 6" lengths and puts them in another bin.

A tractor travels aside the harvester towing the two bins - till full, when another moves into place. Thus, 3 people operate the machines all day.

The bin tractor takes the full bins to a tram line (mostly, though some places rely on truck haulage), and when enough bins are on the line, a tramcar comes and hauls the bins to the mill.

The leaves - now called trash - is delivered to a mill that burns it to make electricity.

Bonjour Amanda
I do believe that our trip in November will mostly be for Prague and its surrounding areas.. Your pictures of Vienna made Vienna seem quite interesting, and since we'll be arriving at the Vienna arpt, we will take a day or two to visit one of the numerous cafes.. *chuckle*
so where's your new trip taking you?

Hi Misty
Among some fine pictures I wanted to mention particularly http://www.globosapiens.net/mistybleu/pictures-an-artist-at-work-21822.html
I had no difficulty in rating it with 5* [which I don't do much]
Beautifully devised and interesting.
Cheers, David

Bonjour Amanda
When I logged on, I saw that you had added some pics on Vienna.. I'm looking forward to seeing them.. We're planning to be in Vienna and Prague in November. I wanted to be in Japan but things came up. We're to meet friends in Vienna now. It's good I haven't been there yet. :-)
I'll add the photos of the Saltmine soon.. :-)

Your pictures of Vienna are amazing, just like the city is, particularly "schloss-belvedere-21764". There were so few entries from that capital city compared to Salzburg, till now!
