Hey Misty,
indeed I was lucky with the weather at Toronto and also at Niagara Falls, ´cause i was able to see Torontos´ skyline from a tower at Niagara Fall and one day later from CN-Tower the mist of Niagara Falls. That was really impressive.
In London and Kent I had more the real "English-foggy-rainy-whatever-conditions"... ;-)
But i´ve learned from a couple of canadian friends, that the weather can´t be too bad, only a lack of gear might be the point that makes you uncomfortable.
Btw, thanks not only for the posting - thanks for all that nice pics and reports you add to the community!!!
Best wishes,
Nico

Balloons
Posted: 2005-08-28 02:56 AM
Hi Amanda,
Thank you for your kind words. Unfortunately I have not travelled in a balloon.
The photos are from the recent festival of Ballooning in Bristol.
I went walking in the park early on Saturday morninng to find these great colourful vehicles landing all around me.
The wonderful silk bodies fold away to fit in little trailers behind cars and jeeps within a matter of minutes after touching the earth.
You can book flights from various balloon operating companies in the Bristol area but of course the timing of the actual flight is heavily dependent on weather conditions.
About £100 will get you a flight of minimum one hour duration.
I hope you get an opportunity to ride in a balloon basket but after you many adventures (for example Iguacu / Ciudad del Este) the stillness of the air, broken only by the intermittent growl of the hot air gas burner would be a very tame experience.

Yes, I did visit the Carretao
Posted: 2005-08-25 05:06 PM
Hey Misty,
Yes, I did visit the Carretao in Copacabana. And I came out weighing about 10 pounds heavier!
It was delicious!
They have similar ones in the States now, and I try to go every once in a while, but they just don't compare to Rio.
Take care

Hi Amanda,
I'm jealous of all the places that you've been...I really enjoyed your photos, especially of the waterfall in Argentina...very spectacular photo!
Your article on Rio was very well done as well.
Take care

Hi Misty
This is really good. It puts the three best known [Tower, Tower Bridge and Westminster] into a context.
Cheers
