Hi folks, I became an early pensioner in 2015 and now have a 50m² apartment in München-Laim with sunny balcony. This is the first time in my life that I am living alone. Now enjoy my hobbies!

Hi Rudi

I want to put up a message about titles and comments on photos. I'm sure you did something of the sort once and it might as well be kept together but I can't find it. Can you help? I'm away tomorrow for a few days - probably mot much photography because the weather forecast is abominable! However it means i may put up the message anyway before i sign off.
Cheers
David

Thank you for your praises to my picture of the big stone. Soon, I will place more on this stone and other landscapes of my area.
Your collection is truly exuberant and immense. I am impassioned by geography, maps and trips. Therefore, your site, for me is a treasure!

Friendly:

Marcos Fonseca.

Peaks/mountains

Posted: 2006-03-08 07:17 AM
Hi Rudi
I've seen Martin's comment below - and of course he's right about me.
I think either name is something of a problem. Martin teased me once about the Welsh peak 'Cnicht' which I had called a mountain. It's low by international standards but is often called 'the Wesh Matterhorn' for its shape. It would quailify as a peak photographically - but probably not as a mountain.
On the other hand I should eternally resist any view that peaks are the only things on mounteins worth taking.
Perhaps just 'Heights', still ambiguous but leaves a lot to the feelings of the person composing the collection.
Cheers
David

Hi Rudi
Thanks for your comment on my report. The Peru trip and, to a limited extent, the Norwegian Coastal Voyage are the only organised trips we have done and, although both were great experiences, I do agree that the capacity for planning your own agenda is important.
To me a holiday has three parts, all good. 1 Planning
2 Execution 3 Reporting.
Cheers

Peaks sounds great

Posted: 2006-03-07 05:59 PM
Hi Rudi

I understand that mountains is quite a large definition. I originally thougt of Pictures that clearly show peaks of real high mountains preferably snow covered... but the snow is depending on the season.

Like the ones from the Alps (mont blanc, Eiger Mönch und Jungfrau, etc) or the Hymalayans (machapucharre, annapurna, mt. everest etc)

Peak would more clearly describe that they have to be pointy to belong in the category (imo)

Have you seen my answer to your brandenburger tor question?

Have a great night

Alhama report

Posted: 2006-03-07 06:14 AM
Hi Rudi
Thanks for your comments. I agree completely about your reservations but I'm sure if I'd stayed a night and seen the monuments open and/or had time to walk in the gorge, I could easily have done a really good one.
You should not let your reservations stretch to this delightful place - only to a report after too short a time there. My attitude was 'better something than nothing.'
Cheers, David
