Ghadames - the Jewel of the Sahara
Posted: 2008-12-16 07:36 AM
Hi Petra,
I am very happy to hear that you enjoy the album. I have also now written the report, which should be going online this evening.
I have a lot more material on Libya. I did not realise that until last night, when I was browsing through the pictures for you. As soon as Andy creates the cities and places, which currently do not exist on GLOBO, I will submit more.
I have ideas for about two or three reports, and five or six albums.
Kindest regards

Ghadames - Libyan pearl of the Sahara
Posted: 2008-12-15 09:09 PM
Hi Pesu,
I have created an album on Ghadames. I hope you like it. There are 40 photographs there, which I chose from a bit larger pool... :) I know it is difficult to illustrate an ambiance of the place, but I tried!
A report will be coming soon. I promise.
Kindest regards

Hi Petra,
Number One for now. But it is a narrow lead, and who knows how long Amanda will let me stay on top.
Kindest regards

Lithuania

Hi Petra,
No, I am not a historian. I remember stuff from school. I liked the stories about kings, queens, concubines, mistresses... ;) Poland and Lithuania share centuries of history. I think it was fascinating how the nations suddenly decided to unify in the 14th century under a single faith and stem the advance of the Teutonic Knights in Europe, who raped both the pagans and the young Christians under the name of St Mary. The history is so intertwined between Poles and Lithuanians that Poland's greatest poet Adam Mickiewicz, started his epic book-size poem "Pan Tadeusz" with words "Lithuania, my motherland..." It was so weird to learn this at Polish schools while Lithuania was most definitely in a different country (then Soviet Union), but my grandmother still remembering Vilnius being Polish before the WWII. I could not remember all the dates back in school but there were episodes of history that really fascinating.
Wow, am I being too excited? :)
Kindest regards
