Pyramids from the roof...
Posted: 2009-02-24 06:28 PM
Hehe, I am glad I could help. There is also another aerial shot of the pyramids, actually taken from a hotel roof, that I posted. It is the night shot of the pyramids. So, two points made :) Kind regards. Krys

Hola Toni

Thanks for your message.
I do not list English because is not one of my three main languages. Russian is second after Spanish. Regarding Chinese, there was a time, over 30 years ago, when I studied it in Taipei for a long time and could speak it fluently, but now I have almost forgotten it. But I love it very much.
“Bonum est faciendum et prosequendum, et malum vitandum” is an abbreviation of a longer sentence, meaning: “The goal of human conduct is to do and pursue good and to avoid evil”.
It is attributed to St Thomas of Aquina.
I love old Latin phrases very much. There is wisdom in them.
Hasta la vista

The Battle of Vitoria
Posted: 2009-02-24 04:35 AM
Hehehe…. Yes, it is true, Toni, English help was terrific. But that was our country that Napoleon invaded, and the battle took place in our territory, that is why we assess that victory according to our point of view.
You have checked the numbers in this web:
http://www.britishbattles.com/peninsula/peninsula-vitoria.htm
But if you check:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Vitoria
The combined forces were: 53,749 British, 39,608 Spanish, and 27,569 Portuguese.
Read the chapter Aftermath and why Wellington was angry with his men...!
Thanks to the British and the Portuguese for that victory!
Buenos días.
