Located at southeast of SPAIN, in the Mediterranean coast, it is today a touristic center with a population about 300.000 inhabitants, weather is warm almost the year and days are shining. The city has a very important dock where arriving great cruisers, a marina bay for sailing boats, a fishing dock, yatch club and an increasing merchant ships traffic. The city sorrounds mount BENACANTIL where on top is placed castle SANTA BARBARA that was an arab fortress. Destroyed and reconstructed late. On summit the view is wonderful, it's contemplating the city and the harbour. The city had differents names in the ancient age, CARTAGINENSES called AKRA LEUKA, later ROMANS changed it for LUCENTUM, and finally ARABS named ALI-CAN, its actual name. The PROMENADE Explanada de España is always crowded , people walking over its mosaic sourface. There are a lot of places by fun and sparing time, goods restaurants, hotels, quiet water beaches

This is a nice description. Allicante is a bit notorious for Dutch people because many youngsters go there and drink too much. That's why I never went, may be this is prejudice |

Hello Juan,
your report makes me want to know more on your home town. How do I get to Marina Bay, and why is it one of your favourite places? The pubs... what do they serve there and what makes the city so special for you?
regards, Andy |
