Australia is a great country for travelling and exploring. With its different climatic zones, from the cool and temperate south of the continent to the tropical north it offers opportunities for travelling all year around. The great distances make it almost mandatory for travellers to own and drive a car. Those who want to see and experience more than just the heavily populated East Coast and who want to venture Off the Beaten Track a 4WD is a must. Although the number of 4WD vehicles on our roads have been on a steady increase during the past 10 years or so, it is estimated that less than half of them have ever been driven on unsealed roads. Just like all over the western world they are mostly used as shopping carts or shuttle buses that take the kids to school, and of course for many they also have become a status symbol. It's only during more recent years that an increasing number of Australians discover more of their own country, but the majority of City dwellers still has not been further than one or two days drives from the cities. Bron, a participant on our 2003 Canning Stock Route trip, who has always been living in or near large cities on the East Coast decided to finally change that and to get to know "Her Country". She joined up as a escort vehicle passenger to take part on our CSR Trip. That trip took us through the most remote areas in Australia, the outback and deserts and finally one of the most spectacular National Parks. Bron has now decided to join us again in 2004 for our East-West Expedition. You can read her journal to learn about her experiences. Here We annually organise at least one such 4WD Expedition. Participants are Australians just like Bron and others from all over the Globe who want to experience more of Australia then what's available along the Trail of Mass Tourism. Enjoy Bron's Journal, Mike
