In my experience, the best of Vietnam is his people. Warm, openheart, helpful ... great. Hanoi have a big chinesse influence, and maybe more comunist than any chinese city, but also is true that Vietnam have a very strong comunist ideals after the wars era. The architecture and the urban distribution makes this city something really extensive ... use a motorbike to go everywhere!! There are also the lakes, Hanoi is known as the city of the lakes and specially the Purple lake with some temples and monuments all around. And obviously the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum for the History interested people.

Favourite spots: |
In Hanoi the temples but are really far from the backpakers area, The empress tomb and palace, the lakes specially the central with the purpure temple in the middle and the one-column pagoda and the artesans streets where you can find people working all the day long on sandals, huts, wear....

What's really great: |
It´s really dificult to say because the weather is everytime bad and cloudy and it impressed me with a grey memory for this city. Maybe the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was the best of Hanoi. I love the Vietnamesse people and that's why, maybe, a great spot is just walk trough the city trying to stay safe from the million motorbikes and bikes going up and down without any control. The chaos!!
