This is where my mother was born and raised and where I spend about 2 weeks a year. Most of my family lives here and I enjoy travelling there very much.
I came here for the first time in August 1984, aged eight months, to visit my grandparents and aunt, and then regularly every other summer. The first thing I remember is a fountain in a subway station where my grandmother let me throw a coin. I was young enough when the Communist era ended but I can remember this as well- for example when my grandfather and me were desperately searching rice and had to drive through the whole city to find it. This was in December 1988, a year before the revolution. When I grew older, my parents took me to see the sights: Charles Bridge, Saint Wenceslas square (this is my favourite spot in Prague), Vysehrad,... there are many more, just go and explore yourself. By the way: the best time to go to Prague if you want to avoid tourist streams is late February/early March, but be sure to bring warm clothes with you as it can get very cold.
Favourite spots:
Saint Wenceslas Square; Charles Bridge; the Castle; the Old Town; Vysehrad and its cemetery
What's really great:
As I'm half from Prague, I'd like to keep quiet here and let judge others. The city is beautiful enough.
Sights:
