Perspective

David,
I so appreciate your comments. My daughter, Lila, was a student at UCLA when she collasped on campus 18 months ago. She has a diffuse lympocratic tumor which has wrapped itself around everything from her chin to her collar bone. Parts have been removed but not before it destroyed her thyroid and triggered an autoimmune disorder similar to early stage HIV. It is not cancerous but has been treated with radiation.

I find solice in travel right now - whether it is trip itself, recalling a past one or planning a future one. It allows me to momentarily set aside this reality. Lila and I are busy planning a trip to India for her 21st birthday next summer. It is so nice to offer her something to look forward to while she goes through all this! She is the Greek dancer in one of my photos - she performed in Greece for a month three summers ago. Those days seem like an alternate universe now.

We learn from our experiences and it just makes us treasure things so much more!

Ratings

David,
It never occurred to me until Jorge's 2nd forum posting to even look at how reports might be ranked overall on Globo. Like you, I write for the joy of sharing the experience. It never occurred to me that I would ever have a report in the top 100, let alone the top 20. My take on the rankings is that they get naturally weight averaged as they "age" and more people vote on them. Early after a report is published, a report may have a "perfect" ***** rating, but as more users rate, may garner a **** or less that gets averaged in.

Either way, I am just delighted to participate!

Slide Show

David,
Thank you for taking a look at my slide show - I hope it wasn't insensative to post it. It occurred to me later that it might appear unkind. Your wonderful photos just brought back so many memories of my trip!

Holiday blues

Hey David,

I wish I was travelling, this year started of with so much promise, but all my plans fell by the way side. So alas after changing jobs, it's left me too busy to travel and too tired to surf. By the time I get home, I'm so exhausted I can't stare at the screen anymore.

I just looking forward to the new year and hopefully many more adventures in store.

Amanda
PS I'm really enjoying revisiting Peru with your reports and pictures.

hiya David!

hi!

thanks for the comments and compliment on the french pics!

i am so glad you loved them!! btw.. you are right... its not easy capturing something which has been captured a trillion times!

i was lucky though ... made three trips to france and had over 1,000 shots to choose from.

what i will concede that would be tough.. is to write a report on paris!!

thanks again,
gloria
