What to wear

Posted: 2006-03-22 10:29 PM
Marianne,
I have really enjoyed reading your reports on India. I have been wondering what to wear in the Temples and Mosques. I realize shorts are inappropriate and I would be reluctant to wear jeans, not wanting to be disrespectful. Any insight you could offer would be helpful!

In answer to your earlier question, yes, Ikaria is near Samos in the eastern Aegean Sea. We went as newlyweds long ago, but I have only been back to Greece once since then. My daughter went for 3 weeks on a dance tour and I was able to join her with my sons for 10 days.

latest report rating

dear marianne

i noticed that your new report had 5 comments with members giving 5* each, except for one undisclosed member. All i can think is that this member has rated your pic by giving you 1* or 2*. I hope you can get andy to look into this. Bec the same had happened to my Agra Report too. Isaac pointed that out to me.

Your comment on my report about India

Posted: 2006-03-22 01:32 PM
Hi Marianne,
I just figured out that we are nearly neighbours, I live near Cologne in Leverkusen.
Thanks für your comment. Delhi, Agra and Jaipur I have visited and was fascinated. I am invited to Delhi this fall and thought of going South. I would like to hear from you how you arranged your journey and what kind of experience you made. The main question is whether a woman alone can do a trip to the South of India.
Thanks.

Florina

Marianne,
My husband is Greek American. His parents are from Icaria, one of the islands near Turkey. Each of the Troupes perform dances from specific regions. The costumes are chosen by the region the dances come from, So far I have done: Epirus, Vlahe, Peloponnisos, Florina, Almyros, and I jusy finished a Macadonian one in February. One of my sons has a foustenella (white puffy skirt) costume which required 48 yards of trim on the vest, but generally the womens are must more work than the mens. Makes me happy to have 3 boys and one girls rather than the opposite ;-)

Thank You

Dear Marianne's,
Thank you for your email.
I'm glad to hear that you been to KL. The place that you mentioned as Pasar Seni also known as Central Market. The history about it, the Central Market was a daily market for all the people in KL. That time in CM you can find everything same as other market in your place. You can find fish, vegetables, meats and everything that you need in the kitchen. Because of the location, from day to day it become as busy as CM nowaday, so the market was shifted to other places. And the old building of the market becoming as a place that you can find all the artwork and things that came from Malaysian Culture.
About your place, I also like to go there. I've been there once last year. The best place that I visited was a Kuekenhoff. I do not know how I'm going to describe the beautiful of the Tulips flower. I'll be there some other time with my wife. Hope that we will always keep in touch.
Best regards.

Hi Marianne,

It's so great to hear from you! I am glad that you enjoyed the photos of the Valley of Fire. My relatives did not want to actually go hiking, so I plan to go back, and get to some of the more remote parts of the park. I am moving to Las Vegas in June, so expect more photos of this beautiful place.
