Hi Marianne
Thank you for your messages.
About public phone cards look here:
http://www.swisscom-fixnet.ch/fx/privatkunden/produkte/telefonkarten/taxcard/index.htm
But you have other possibilies as well:
http://www.swisscom-fixnet.ch/fx/privatkunden/dienste/oeffentlichtelefonieren/TelefonKabine/Zahlungsmittel/index.htm?languageId=en
The weather end of October could as sunny as on my picture but there always is the chance of fog and rain. With a little luck you will get bright clear skies with a very good view of the mountains.
And don't forget to take a warm jumper/jacket....

Hong Kong

Hi Marianne
If you look here:
http://www.globosapiens.net/mortimer/picture-hong-kong-by-night-9576.html
You'll see we have been there....
Hong Kong and Macao are nice always worth a stop, there is excellent shopping in Hong Kong. Macao is just a day trip then you have seen it, you can take a speed boat from hong kong.
If you want to go to china try not to do, too much cities. The Yangshuo area is quite nice, touristy but no city.
We did a tour: Bejing, Shanghai, Xian, Chengdu, Guilin Yahngshuo, Hong Kong in 20 days.
The funny parts were the train travels in between Bejing and Shanghai and Shanghai to Xian.
Have a nice day

Switzerland calling

Hi Marianne
I just posted some tips for your trip to switzerland in the forum.
Tank you very much for your kind remarks on my own humble page and reports, im glad you liked it.
China is fascinating, the language is a big problem but it can make some very interesting moments when trying to communicate with the local people, a phrase book is very handy. Some of our best souvenirs about china are all about language!!!

Yes, I've been to most parts of Tanzania, including all major cities, all National parks (except for Serengeti, turned just after Ngorongoro Crater) and Zanzibar. Unlike you, I love Zanzibar and I have visited the island many times.

Kilimanjaro

Hi,
I saw you post in Richard's guestbook. I have just digitalised and edited my analog video from my climb to Kilimanjaro in 1997. While doing so I memorised the climb that was probably the toughest thing I've ever done. Thanks to a very good team spirit and excellent assistance from the porters and guides from Marangu, the whole group of 6 people made it to Gilman's point in a terrible weater, heavy snowfall and almost no sight.
