Hi folks, I became an early pensioner in 2015 and now have a 50m² apartment in München-Laim with sunny balcony. This is the first time in my life that I am living alone. Now enjoy my hobbies!

Thanks for reading my Varkala report. You are quite right when you say that 'the place lacks a highlight or sparkle to it'. The place was uninteresting, hardly any local charm and way too many tourists. We had more or less expected this, but not to the extent what we saw, that's why we only stayed one day.

More confusion in Greater London
Posted: 2006-04-21 11:39 AM
Rudi, I had a look at that Wikipedia link that you posted and it confuses things even further. It mentions the Greater London Urban Area which goes outside Greater London and even a London Commuter Belt that goes further, it even includes my home town and I am in Hertfordshire. In fact there are people in my office in the centre of London who commute from Ipswich in Suffolk and even the south coast.
I think the official definition of Greater London has to be those places that are London Boroughs. This is the more logical definition because all other places have a County to belong to.
I wonder if Greater Manchester has the same problems.
Regards
Clive

Patagonia Paradise for Backpakers
Posted: 2006-04-17 12:35 PM
One of the first trips I made from Bariloche to Ushuaia ( lasted 1 full month, back in 1980) , together with 7 friends, sleeping almost always in tents over the lakes.
Cooking ou fished trouts at the campfire washing then w/ some Champagene ..can life get better !
We traveled in two cars that were somehow destroyed after the trip ....imagine 26 years ago roads where not as good as today...in some legs we walked in front of the car putting away stones, logs.....
You may find some cheap hostels in Patagonia, but a tent is a good idea...distances from one village to another one are huge..sometimes Patagonia is monotonous ....like the Pampas....a car is a Must.
But wont loose the trip if not having acces to it.

Bouvet Island flag
Posted: 2006-04-13 11:52 PM
Rudi
Regarding wojtekd picture:
http://www.globosapiens.net/wojtekd/pictures-legendary-bouvet-island-32965.html
There is no flag in it.
This island belongs to Norway, so, it should have Norwegian flag.
Can you please solve this?
Fyg, until woktekd fabulous expedition to those lost islands, just 2 or 3 travellers had reached Bouvet. It was considered harder to get there than in the moon, that is why is considered a legendary uninhabited island. That picture should be appreciated as a precious and rare gem in Globo.
Thanks for your always invaluable help and support to all the Globo members. That is why we all always go to you for help!
2 - I am experiencing problems to post a travel log about Lundy island, in Bristol Channel. Devon. The same happened with Sark island, and finally I posted my travel log under Guernsey. With Agatti island I used Kochin as base for the travel log. Many tiny islands do not appear in Globo data base. But Bouvet, which is uninhabited, yes.

Thanks for your comment. I'll change that on San Juan and other reports. I'll also add parts of the cruise. I do have a question. What about the days at sea when you don't stop at any ports?
Hope you can help.
