Ghana and forts

Posted: 2008-04-14 12:49 PM
Hi,

I was thinking of writing a report dedicated to the forts with all practicals - my guide wasn't even aware of all of them! I have written one on Elmina, which for some reason is one of the least popular of all reports I submitted. So, I thought Ghana was not going to be an interesting read.

Best regards,
Krys

Hola Wojciech

If I save enough money this summer working in the Costa Brava washing dishes, then, first I will fly to Moscow and then around the world stopping in Ogasawara, Parece Vela, Spratley islands (from Malaysia), Lord Howe, Norfolk, Chatham and Tokelau with the ship via Apia.
But if I do not earn money enough then, after Moscow, I will return to Spain overland via Byelorussia and Gdansk to visit your Wojtkówka. Please, keep a bottle of that wine to share with me!
Pity that last year I could not afford travelling to Midway in the cruise that you told me. It seems that they only open that atoll once every five years. Maybe in 2012 we can go together.
Hasta la vista amigo

Welcome to the Philippines and its funny people and ways. I am so over pleased that that 'secret' Monday flight worked. I could not have forgotten myself if you were forced to go the long way around. It pays to ask about charter flights, think travel staff do not give that information voluntarily.

Weather is very bad in the north till Friday, lucky you did not fly via Manila. Stormy weather is expected in the south next weekend.

Enjoy the fast, cheap and extensive internet and cellular phone networks in the Philippines!

Sulu Sea: Around or over the top?

Computer reservation systems do not show charter flights, only regular airline flights. Did you contact “Dream World” travel at Davao Mr. Juvi, +639106081737 dreamworldpt@yahoo.com to ask for the best connection from Indonesia?

Otherwise the best airline deal I found was:
Manado to Singapore with www.silkair.com $341 then www.cebupacificair.com Singapore to Cebu for only $94. Adding these two makes a total of $450. If you can get to Jakarta, valuair.com.sg flies to Singapore for only $71. These prices include taxes and fees. For these fares, I assume reservation is needed far in advance.

I hope you find a reasonably priced way across that very difficult triangle.

Jayapura to Cebu

Wojtku,

I had a look at amadeus.net and found the following options:

via Bali and Taipei

GA0653 DJJ 0900-1310 DPS (Garuda)
GA9982 DPS 1425-1930 TPE (Garuda)
5J 303 TPE 2255-0115 CEB (Cebu Air)

GA0653 DJJ 0900-1310 DPS
BR0256 DPS 1615-2125 TPE (Eva Air)
5J 303 TPE 2255-0115 CEB

or via Jakarta and Taipei

GA0651 DJJ 0800-1315 CGK
CI0678 CGK 1440-2050 TPE (China Airlines)
5J 303 TPE 2255-0115 CEB

If you can get somehow to Kota Kinabalu in the north of the Borneo on the Malay side, then there is a direct flight to Cebu on Thursdays and Sundays:

MH 708 BKI 1315-1505 CEB (Malaysia Airlines, codeshare with Philippine Airlines PR 708)

But I could not find direct flights between DJJ and BKI.

Powodzenia! Trzymam kciuki.

Wow, amazing voyage. I would really like to see the East Timor. It is so remote and mysterious for me :)
I cant wait to see the photos. And of course Philippines Island - white sandy beaches ....
You are lucky man.
Again wish you all the best on your trip
