I've always wanted to visit Italy and especially Venice with someone I love. So this year, my fiance took me there not knowing that it was my dream... We were on our way to Naples, but we stopped in Venice for a day.
|
Since we traveled with our dog, it wasn't easy to find a place that will take the three of us over night, so we stayed in a little village Malcontento that is just 15 mins by bus away from Venice. The bus line is regular, it leaves every 30 mins. and the price is 1.5 EUR per person. Since my diploma is in History of Arts, I knew of Venice's Must See spots, but i never imagined that it would be this stunning. My fiance and I walked through big part or Venice. Well, from the bus station to Ponte di Academia and Santa Maria della Salute Church. There we took water bus to get to the other side of Big Channel where San Marco Piazza and Pallaco Ducale are...

Favourite spots: |
My favorite spot in Venice is definately San Marco Piazza. It is the place to be, where the whole thing is happening. The two of us sat there and enjoyed the view on San Marco Chiesa and Pallaco Ducale, while listening live music... In a word: ENJOYING. To be honest, the most interesting thing about Venice is that you can't just pic one or two favorite spots. The whole town, or at least everything that I've seen about it, is my favorite spot. What I didn't like about it is that it is too expencive. For a 30 min ride on a gondole they wanted 100EUR!!! Well, not this time!

What's really great: |
What amazed me is that there are no cars in Venice it self. The whole life is on water or cannals. They have mass transportation on water, taxi service and of course the biggest touristic trap: gondole... Good way to see many nice places is to take one of water bus's and just enjoy panorama. It is a regular mass transportation, but also very handy for tourists. Still, walking through this unique city is something else. i don't think that I've crossed that many bridges in my life as I have that one day... It's a pity that we had so little time there, but my fiance and I agreed to go there again and stay longer and explore...

Sights: |
Since we spent only a few hours there, we only managed to see the most popular sights: Chiesa Santa Maria della Salute and Piazza San Marco. When we arrived, it was already night so we caught it under soft lights... Both of us remained speechless...

Accommodations: |
As I already said, we stayed in a little village Malcontento that is just 15 mins by bus away from Venice itself. It is much cheaper than staying in the city and as beautiful. If you travel with pets, it is wise to stop at tourist information beaureu and ask them to recomand you the place that will accept your furry family members.

Nightlife: |
My fiance and I are not so crazy about clubs anymore so I can't provide information about this subject, but I am sure that this beautiful and interesting city has to offer. We have seen so many young people there... I don't think they could manage to spend time, even in Venice, without clubs! :))

|
Restaurants: |
As we all know, food is very important in Italy in general, so you will have no problems finding a good restaurant here. Since we were very hungry, we ate in the first restaurant we ran into. The food was beautiful, service great, the price... Well, you are in Venice!
