Milano-Pavia-Genoa

I told myself to stick to the Eurorail when I was travelling so that i'd pass by all the small, gorgeous towns and not miss any of them, since the open ticket system was much of a help...I was at Genoa for one whole day,I loved it there

142km (88 miles) SW of Milan, 501km (311 miles), 193km (120 miles) NE of Nice, where I was heading that day. Having Nice in my head, I was excited and couldn't hardly wait to see Nice when I should've enjoyed and sovour every moment of my trip in the train,up and down...as you know.. Genoa has a lot of hills surrounding it and it has a mixture of old and new combination, classic and sophisticated.Once a very important port to the Roman empire, Genoa has always been a port city, with fresh breeze blowing my hair away as I walked along it's nicely paved city.Christopher Columbus grew up here and Genoa was also the largest, wealthiest and the most glorious city during the Renaissance period. The narrow lanes and its alleyways of its port-side old town are the evidence to those good old days..

Favourite spots:
A lot of them actually...treasure--filled palaces, parks and fine marble churches.Life within the old medieval walls seems frozen in time..but the other side of Genoa ,the modern part of it, with all the new latest design in its new building, mostly for business purposes..it has anything and everything a metropolis can afford. The sea and the colour of the city, live in my head until today..

What's really great:
Acquario di Genova-The largest aquarium of Europe and one of the biggest attractions in all the land,Cattedrale di San Lorenzo & Campanile- the cathedral is distinguished by its bands of black-and-white marble anddates from the 13th century..
