An almost forgotten part of Europe, stripped itself from communism and is fast becoming a major trade centre. An architecturaly rivitting place to explore.
|
Sofia was founded about 3000 years ago, set centrally between west and east europe, like Poland, target of a lot of invasions. Hungarians, Serbs, Crusaders and Turks have come and gone and left their influences, also architecturaly, well preserved till today.

Favourite spots: |
The Vitosha Mountains to the south offer an exellent panorama of the city.

What's really great: |
I like the friendlyness of the people, make great hosts. Even with little english, they are determined to explain things, also with hand and feet to get the meassage across. Busy city and much to see on my two day stopover.
