Nov 24, 2019 10:00 PM Funchal Maderia

Funchal Maderia This was the first stop on my cruise and it really a nice place to visit. It is very hill and attempted to rent a electric bike because really that is the only way.

Nov 16, 2019 10:00 PM Cheap vacations

Cheap vacations I found a really cool cruise with Pulmantur and decided to head to the canaries islands. Even though it’s Spain I hadn’t been there before and so we booked an easyJet flight Tenerife where we picked up the cruise ship. The ship was old, but it still felt nice, not as nice as my previous cruise but it was still nice. We stopped in Lanzarote, La Palma, Gran Canaria and Maderia. My favourite was lanzorate and finding the sand dunes.

Oct 06, 2019 08:00 PM Shuga in Lagos

Shuga in Lagos My pre trip to Nigeria was very costly, it cost over £200 for visa and £100 for malaria tablets. If I include the flight this was a very expensive trip. But I went as part of a medical mission to assist the community and support then in opening a health centre. The country felt large, we drove 3 hours outside of Lagos and set ourselves up in a little village called Ekiti. I hope I get to do this again.

Aug 24, 2019 08:00 PM Vegas Baby

Vegas Baby What a hectic week and silly me took the late fight out of Dallas so didn’t get in to Vegas until would late. My hotel has an airport pick up but I ended up waiting for quite a while. I had decided to walk to the strip but as I left the hotel I just got tired and turned around. The following morning I realised the hotel arranged a shuttle to take guests to the strip so I hoped on it.

It’s so funny to things you see in vegas. The homelessness was really bad, I saw a vagrant with her cart walking up the strip wearing a bikini. Granted it was over 42 degrees centigrade but that was unusual.

Aug 20, 2019 08:00 PM Dallas cowboys, boots, hat and barbeque

Dallas cowboys, boots, hat and barbeque By gosh Dallas is hot, the summer months are a killer here. I have a 40 minute drive to Plano. I can’t actually believe this is still Dallas but my Uber driver confirmed that it was. He also recommended that we have a Texas bbq, I think I’ve had it before but I’m always up for a barbecue.

Aug 16, 2019 08:00 PM I can’t believe I’m hear again

I can’t believe I’m hear again I first went to San Francisco back in 2003 when I did a three months trip around the world. This time as part of a business trip I get to enjoy the city again. I didn’t really want to do anything over again, but was interesting doing things that I missed out on. The top of my list was to cycle across the Golden Gate Bridge and spend the afternoon in Sausalito in Marin county and have lunch in the Barrel. It was recommended that I should try the crab donuts, and they were all that it was cracked up to be.

Jun 16, 2019 08:00 PM The great British Tennis Season

The great British Tennis Season I kicked of my tennis season with my annual visit to Queens club in Barons Court.

I had four nice matter to watch: Fernando Verdasco vs Daniel Medvedev, Marin Cillic vs Cristian Garlin, Cameron Norris vs Kevin Anderson, finishing up with Giles Simon vs James Ward.

The two matches with the brits were really great but its just a shame they lost in the end but it was a marvellous day out. We had wall to wall sunshine, which turned out to be the best today of the week.

So from the players I watched at least one of them will make it into the final on Sunday which isn't too bad.

May 26, 2019 08:00 PM Back in ole Blighty

Back in ole Blighty I got back around 11.30 after my flight was delayed, but every thing had run on time. But I didn’t get to sleep until around 3am so the following morning I was exhausted.

I decided I was going to explore a little bit of St Pancras and went to the Renaissance Hotel to marvel at the grand staircase.

However after doing that, I just wanted to sit out side with a drink and enjoy the remaining sunshine.

I definitely was exhausted from all the walking I’d done over the weekend averaging around 30k each day. It’s been a long time since I’d did that.

No more bank holidays and no more plans, oh what is a girl to do....

May 25, 2019 08:00 PM Rinse and repeat

Rinse and repeat Sunday started the same way, headed to breakfast early, back to my room, watched a few plans land while getting ready and listen to some music.

As I didn’t get to see all the sights yesterday, I thought I’d venture up to Moorish Castle and attempt the 45 minute climb. I kept of taking the wrong turning but eventually made it to the castle and the WWII tunnels. As I had already been there yesterday and the guy remembered me he allowed me to visit the castle without paying an additional amount. But instead of going up further, I chose to head back down to town and then onto the beach. This was a better/easier way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

I had a late flight back to London and ended up in the lounge on the outdoor veranda watching the sun setting. I know it was completely the wrong time of day, but I enjoyed a little afternoon tea with real clotted cream. It was a very enjoyable way to end a lovely weekend.

May 24, 2019 08:00 PM Exploring the rock

Exploring the rock I got up at 8am and had breakfast, they really put on a good spread. The eggs weren’t great but the Cumberland sausages were perfect.

I went back to my room and chilled. I started watching the airplanes land and take off, which for some reason interested me. Outside of a caribbean island its the first time i’d seen a main road cut across the runway, so yet again somehow I was interested in seeing the traffic lights changed to stop cars and pedestrians and then the yellow ‘vacuum’ cleaner come out and clear the road section from any litter etc, up and down like a snake making sure it was safe to land the plane. I thought that they planes would land in the same direction as I’d come in yesterday, but it was changed. I can only image that the wind was still strong and therefore they could approach from that direction.

When I got tired of that, I headed in to town to climb up the rock. I walked through town and found the tourist office. the person advised that it would take me around 45 minutes to walk up there. I’m thinking in this sun and hot temperatures that didn’t sound fun. So I walked on to the cable car. It cost me £14 for a one way journey and then I purchased a walking ticket to access some of the sights. So in total I spent £19. I was told that the walkers ticket allowed me access all areas but just not inside the relevant attractions. To be fair thats all I really needed. I’m sorry to say but as castle is a castle.

When I got up to the top I was greeted with by a few macaques. They were so accustomed to seeing humans that they didn’t even bat an eyelid when they came too close. A couple of times I did see them go or someone’s bag to find some food or jump on their backs. Luckily it never jumped on mine, but it did approach me while I was eating in a cafe and then went after my apple core after I disposed of it. But to be fair it did not look like they were after fruit, it was more the sweet stuff.

The sights from the rock were great and I had a really clear day. I was even able to see the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. I must have walked around for about 4 hours before heading down.

I started chatting with a Hungarian who offered me a drop back to town and I was only too happy to accept. By the time I got back I was truly exhausted. But it was a great day.
